Many moons ago, Pluto – the outermost planet in our solar system – was demoted. For those of us who grew up with the nine-planet solar system model, this came as somewhat of an affront to everything we knew about anything, ever. I mean, what is the meaning of life if the planetary status of Pluto can so easily be revised and revoked? Why, Neil, why??
In this hilarious video, Neil DeGrasse Tyson answers to the angry rants and raves (and insults) of those really strange people who were truly and deeply wounded by Pluto’s demotion from planetary status to mere space-wandering rock. Why people give such a damn is beyond me. After all, Pluto is only a quarter the size of our moon and even then, most of its mass is ice.

Neil DeGrasse Tyson is a megamind and, not coincidentally, also curator of the Hayden Planetarium, as well as the presenter of Carl Sagan’s revised TV-series, “Cosmos” He is awesome and anyone who has watched any of his videos, lectures or presentations will appreciate just how erudite and smart this man is.
But by far one of Neil’s greatest talents is the perfect balance between a sophisticated understanding of science and the ability to communicate with those who don’t. This makes him one of today’s most powerful and persuasive public figures in science and technology.
From flying insects that would cave in your car’s bumper to a snake that, at an average 50 feet (15m) long, could easily have eaten a herd of cows for breakfast… there are some pretty large animals to have roamed the Earth in its history and this amazing science video takes us on a journey through them. It also provides us with a relative scale, so that we can appreciate just how f***ing huge they are in comparison with our own tiny selves. Just do yourself a favour and turn your computer’s volume off, because the accompanying music will make you want to bludgeon yourself to death with a brick.

Bonobo Chimpanzees are our closest living relatives, genetically speaking. More interesting than that though: they’ve mastered the art of conflict resolution in a most curious and salacious way! Anytime things get heated… well, Bonobo chimps get heated too and then the conflict is resolved!

Bonobo Chimpanzees are incredibly sexually liberated and use this intimate act (homosexually and heterosexually) as a way to express just about every emotion. In this fascinating TED Talk, medical inventor and a fellow of TED Joe Landolina, explains his amazing innovation, which is a gel that can instantly stop bleeding. And we’re not talking about knee grazes and cat scratches. We’re talking about life-threatening arterial wounds that could cause certain death unless stopped within minutes. Blood pumping out of an open wound at TWICE the normal arterial pressure can be instantly staunched with the application of this gel, which is surely an incredible breakthrough in modern medical science. What this means, particularly for soldiers in battle, is a much better chance of survival for the otherwise mortally wounded. And also, no stitches!
By the way, the bleeding wound in question was merely a sliced side of pork with a tube feeding blood into it, so don’t worry about being disturbed by any imagery.

As awe-inspiring videos go, this is about as spell-binding as it gets. On the back of a drone, you weave your way through the world’s very largest cave, Hang Son Doong, which means “Mountain River Cave” in Vietnamese. This gorgeous cave is a yawning chasm within solid rock and, owing to the constant seepage of life-giving water into its belly, offers the local biology the most wonderful respite from the elements. As such and as you will see in this beautiful footage, life flourishes within the shelter of Hang Son Doong.
Keep an eye out for the people on the ground as the drone sweeps over the vast interior of the cave and you will develop a true appreciation of just how immense Hang Son Doong really is. How Was It Formed?
Hang Son Doong is a solutional cave formed in the calcium-rich limestone of the Phone Nka-Ke Bang National Park. Over the eons, a weak acid formed from the mixture of water and carbon dioxide gas released by plants (carbonic acid) has slowly eaten away at the alkaline rock, carving out this gigantic chamber beneath the mountainside. Hang Son Doong now houses its own rushing river, some of the biggest stalagmites in the world (70 meters tall) and a natural inner chamber that is in excess of five kilometres (or 3.1 miles) in length!

A dude talking his dog for a walk in the forest stumbles upon a most mysterious scene of a young girl suspended in thin air. When her and her friend hear him coming, she quickly comes back down from her levitation and they both make a run for it. Hmmm…
While exploring an abandoned school, a group of youngsters film an apparition that materialises out of thin air and walks purposefully towards them, letting rip a howling moan as it does (around the 2 minute mark). Why the investigators don’t void their bowels before running and screaming like little girls from the room is a bigger mystery than the ghost itself.

Paranormal Video 3: Unknown Winged Creature Caught on Camera
Watch this security footage from Cilandak Square in Jakarta, Indonesia, to see a strange light bolt down to Earth and then take off again. The light anomaly is clearly the shape of a winged creature and while your brain tells you “Naaaah, there’s no way this could be real…” the people who created the video certainly did a meticulously good job of making it realistic! Notice the fine details in the reflection of light off the various surfaces around the parking lot.

Paranormal Video 4: Possible Fallen Angel in Catalonia (Subtitled)
Disregard the title, because even when the scary creature is revealed, there isn’t anything “angel-like” about it, although it doesn’t look human at all. Those white feathers on the ground could belong to virtually any white bird. Nevertheless, this paranormal video is worth a gander.
A security guard shakily films a whitish apparition of a walking spook meandering through the park at night. The ghost of Walt Disney perhaps?

Paranormal Video 6: Real Demons Caught on Tape
Okay, so this paranormal video is obviously the work of a very talented CGI student, but God DAMN it’s good! What’s funny and somewhat disturbing is how some of the commenters assume an authority on the matter of the paranormal, saying “demons can’t manifest like that” and “Those are hands of the torchered, desperately reaching, trying to get you to pull them out of there. But don’t fall for it. They will drag you in, so that you can burn together with them.”
With enough ingenuity, access to photoshop and CGI software and the co-operation of your friends, it would be possible for anyone to create an unexplained phenomenon and “catch it on tape.” Ultimately, however, there’s no way these videos can be strictly verified or discredited, which is why they are so interesting to watch.
Hummingbirds look like bumblebees dressed in drag and routinely pull off amazing feats of flight and manoeuvrability. And while we already know these tiny bejewelled aviators are ridiculously cute, THIS video is something else entirely! It will soften your soul to mush and generate a cacophony of “aaaawws” from all the ladies AND dudes in the office.
