Today's Sciencey LOL

Funny science jokes

Author: Thea Beckman

Canadian born and South African raised, Thea Beckman AKA Wander Woman Thea, is an experienced travel, food, and wine writer and (amateur) photographer with a devastating love of all of the above. She is a travel bug, a bookworm, and mildly alarmed by how many arthropods she can be at once. When she’s not writing for a living and for pleasure, she enjoys bird-watching, reading, drinking wine, cooking, and SHORT walks on the beach because the summer southeasterly winds in Cape Town are a real bitch. Thea is the author of the book “Why? Because Science!” Facebook @WanderWomanThea Instagram @wander_woman_thea

  1. Remember though, Science can not completely absolve itself from the same consciousness of mind that created the other traditions which lead towards its tenets. We build upon the nature of consciousness, and objectivity from the subjective aspect of a mind perceiving its object is but a figment of a Cartesian paradox, just as much as former methods of thought are subjective experiences projected upon an objective presence that lacks objective substance.

    1. Ha! I knew it! After reading that comment 5 times to come to grips with what you’re saying, I said to myself: “I bet this guy is a PHD student of philosophy or psychology.” And then I checked your blog title and it would seem as though you are in fact a doctor of psychology. So, yes, I’m fully aware and appreciative of the fact that science is the ever-evolving end product of philosophy. I REALLY enjoyed studying philosophy as the birth discipline of science – not so much the latter theories. Astronomy is also the ever-evolving end product of ancient astrology. What I intended to target with this picture is the modern day spin on these other traditions – modern astrology, cryptozoology and even modern interpretations of religion. I like what you’re saying though, so thank you for that comment.
